Patients who are afraid of the dentist are usually my favourite. Overcome the trauma and make them progressively feel more comfortable to lay on that chair with that too bright of a lamp over their mouth.
However as an artist, I like to play.
“I’m afraid of the dentist, this is like exposure therapy to me”, heard someone saying when I was laying under a big white sheet with my mouth open with the help of a metallic mouth spreader. This is how I spent part of last weekend.
I haven’t even seen the majority of the visitors who, on the other hand, have looked into and interacted with my mouth.
Some more than others. Some people got close and nervously giggled. I remember one who put what I think it was a dental mirror in my mouth and after one second said “this is too freaky” and went away. Others gave me almost a proper check up.
I also got fed and hydrated. Another one gave me a tongue massage with one of their fingers. That time I giggled. It felt good.
