4:19min short film, Red, emerged from a four-day artist residency at Chilly Cabin close to Brabant, the Netherlands.
It was only me and Femke, a spoken word artist who I didn’t know until the day we both arrived.
Femke observed my visual performances, consisting of interactions of my naked body with a piece of red fabric in the middle of the nature, and translated into written form. This process of observation and interpretation evolved into a collaborative artistic dialogue, mixing visual art with spoken word.
Red is an interplay between animate and inanimate using a simple red fabric as a focal point to delve into complex human emotions and relationships. It serves as a reflection on the vulnerability that is human nature, highlighting how we project our feelings onto the inanimate and create symbolic relationships that mirror our interactions with other people.
